New York skilled nursing facility deploys Vios monitoring system to enhance patient monitoring

Murata Vios, Inc. and Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center collaborate to improve residential care through wireless, continuous monitoring technology
Woodbury, Minnesota–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In order to improve residents’ post-acute care and monitoring, Murata Vios, Inc. announced the deployment of its Vios monitoring system at the Bishop Rehabilitation and Care Center. The system is installed in a 455-bed Syracuse professional care and rehabilitation facility for continuous monitoring of vital signs.
The Vios Monitoring System is a wireless, FDA-approved patient monitoring platform designed to improve residents’ safety and results. The system continuously monitors 7-lead ECG, heart rate, SpO2, pulse rate, breathing rate and posture.

Chris Bumpus, director of nursing at Bishop, said: “Readmission can be a costly setback for residents’ recovery.” “The continuous monitoring and alerting of the Vios monitoring system will help us monitor more closely. Patients with heart problems. This includes the diagnosis and treatment of most heart problems before they become so serious that they need to go to the emergency room.”
The Vios monitoring system is designed as a low-cost, user-friendly and safe patient monitoring platform. It applies to existing IT networks and allows staff to monitor patients from anywhere in the facility, not just behind the desk or beside the patient’s bed. Data can be integrated into electronic health records.
Bishop is the first professional nursing and rehabilitation center equipped with Vios monitoring system in the Greater Syracuse area. The system enhances the facility’s ability to treat residents on-site and provides additional services, including 24-hour respiratory therapy, hemodialysis, an integrated wound care team led by an in-house general surgeon, and telemedicine.
Murata Vios vice president of sales Drew Hardin said: “The Vios monitoring system will help post-acute medical institutions like Bishop do more with the resources they have. “By optimizing the monitoring of residents, we can help reduce care and operations.
