Kuala Lumpur, July 7th-Research conducted by the Institute of Medicine (IMR) found that two self-test devices (rapid antigen tests) that use saliva for Covid-19 screening have a sensitivity level of over 90%.
The Director-General of Health, Dr. Tan Sri Nur Hisham Abdullah, said that the research conducted by the IMR has been completed and it is expected that detailed information on the guidelines for the use of the self-check kit will be ready next week.
“IMR has completed the evaluation of two saliva self-test devices, and both have a sensitivity of more than 90%. The MDA (Medical Devices Administration) is detailing the guidelines for use, and Insha Allah (God willing) will complete it next week,” he Speak on Twitter today.
In May of this year, Dr. Noor Hisham stated that there are two companies selling the kit in local pharmacies.
He said that by using saliva testing kits, individuals can detect Covid-19 without having to go to a medical institution for initial screening. -Bernama
