Adabo will bring another COVID-19 antibody testing event to Rockaway in July this year

As the number of vaccinations in the city continues to rise, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. and two community partners will host a COVID-19 event in Rockaway in July this year. Antibody testing activities.
On Friday, July 23, Addabbo will work with the local medical institution Valhalla Medics and Wave newspaper to bring this event to the community. The event will be held from 12 noon to 2 pm and will be held outside the Wave office at 438 129th Street, Rockaway Park Beach.
Adabo previously brought Valhalla Medics to Broad Channel for antibody testing activities, and more than 60 people came out to check their COVID-19 antibodies.
Addabbo said: “This testing event is a good way for vaccinated people to check whether COVID-19 antibodies are in their system.” “I performed an antibody test before the vaccination. The results showed that there were no antibodies in my system. After I was vaccinated twice, I tested it again in the last test event with Valhalla Medics, and I had antibodies. It’s a good feeling to know that the vaccine is effective for me and I am protected.”
The test that will be performed is the rapid IgG/IgM antibody test, which uses a nearly painless finger prick to draw a small drop of blood and transfer it for processing. After waiting about 10 minutes, the patient will receive a form with their results written on it and signed by the technician who performed the test. These IgG/IgM tests can detect and distinguish the presence of short-term (IgM) and long-term (IgG) antibodies.
Participation in the test activity does not require insurance. Anyone who wants to participate in the event and get a free rapid antibody test can register to secure a place by calling Addabbo’s office at 718-738-1111. Walking will also be welcome.
Valhalla Medics will provide free gifts to all those who come to receive free antibody testing.
Addabbo added: “Even if you are fully vaccinated, it is important that you still need to be tested for COVID because the chance of you getting the virus and spreading it to unvaccinated people is still very small.” “I want to thank Valhalla Medics and Wave Everyone at, thank them for helping bring this important event to the community.”
